HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY STATEMENT
Al-Amana Security is committed to high standards of health and safety. It is our policy, as a company, to maintain high standards and to encourage our staff to contribute to their own welfare and that of their colleagues. Maintaining a safe & healthy working environment places demands on everyone, but the resultant benefits are worth the effort.
Ensuring safety awareness, positive attitudes and continuous improvement in safety performance requires the commitment and active involvement of Directors, Managers and staff at all levels.
Our objectives are, so far as is reasonably practicable, to avoid accidents, injuries and damage to property, and to conserve the environment.
GENERAL POLICY
This statement recognises Al-Amana Security's commitment to broadly comply with the UK Health & Safety at Work Act 1974. The company will, in the conduct of its activities and as far as is reasonably practicable :
Protect the health & safety of its employees and others that may be affected by its activities.
Limit adverse effects on the physical environment in which those activities are carried out.
Al-Amana Security recognises that the talents and energies of its employees are amongst its greatest assets and it has a responsibility to provide for their welfare. So far as is reasonably practicable, Al-Amana Security will :
Provide & maintain safe working environments that do not constitute risks to health & welfare.
Formulate standards that comply with relevant statutory requirements in respect of health, safety and the environment, as they affect employees, clients, contractors and the public.
Safeguard employees, and others, from foreseeable hazards with regard to health, safety or the environment, in cur rent processes and working systems.
Ensure that, when new equipment, processes or premises are introduced, adequate guidance, instruction and supervision are provided for safe methods of work to be developed.
Train employees to be aware of their own responsibilities in respect of health, safety and environmental matters, and to ensure they participate in the prevention of accidents and environmental hazards.
Without detracting from the contractor's own legal responsibility, Al-Amana Security will ensure that contractors are informed of relevant standards, have been trained in safe working procedures and are monitored for compliance.
Use health education and counselling to promote good health and to avoid occupational and non-occupational injuries and diseases.
Establish procedures for monitoring compliance with the safety standards and cooperate with authorities and technical organisations to ensure policies are kept up to date.
APPLICATION
The responsibility for establishing and maintaining policies on health, safety and environmental matters lies with the Directors of Al-Amana Security.
Every employee has a personal responsibility to observe safety policies, rules and procedures. They are encouraged to develop an interest and enthusiasm in health and safety issues.
The Health & Safety Representative is responsible for the provision of health and safety advice and guidance. The preparation of health and safety information and guidance is the primary means by which Directors and Managers gain an understanding of the issues involved with health, safety, fire protection and occupational hygiene.
The Health & Safety Representative is responsible for ensuring that Al-Amana Security provides suitable training on health, safety and related environmental issues for all its employees.
IMPLEMENTATION
Particular implementation tasks include :
Allocation of sufficient resources to operate and maintain safe and healthy places of work.
Provision of protective equipment and clothing as required for particular work areas and activities, and ensuring its proper use.
Ensuring adequate information is clearly displayed on specific hazards applicable to each site.
Promotion of effective participation by all employees in joint consultation on health and safety matters.
Provision of fire protection, first aid and health monitoring facilities according to the numbers of employees and the particular circumstances at each site.
Taking account of advice and guidance issued by functional managers with responsibility for health, safety and environmental issues and establishing the necessary training.
This statement of general policy on health & safety at work and of the organisation and arrangements for carrying out ‘The Policy' is made in line with Section 2(3) of the UK Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. It is to be brought to the notice of all employees of Al-Amana Security during induction training.
